Renovation historical Ukrainian orthodox church Boussoit, Belgium
This action aims to raise sufficient funds to renovate a historical Ukrainian orthodox church in Boussoit, Belgium.
We cannot close our eyes to the humanitarian tragedy currently unfolding in Ukraine, where a horrific war is raging. As a result, millions of Ukrainians were forced to flee their homeland. Some of them now reside in the Benelux countries. Their suffering extends far beyond the physical realm; the spiritual needs of these Ukrainian refugees are greater than people think. Those needs can only be met by professing their Orthodox Christian faith.
In the village of Boussoit, near the Belgian city of Mons, a small Ukrainian church was established in the 1940s. It was closed a few years ago because there were barely two parishioners left at the time. Now this little church is more than needed by our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. The renovation of this little church deserves our attention and support! Only in this way can it be saved from destruction and regain its function as a holy place. This little church, dedicated to the Protection of the Mother of God, belongs to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and is under the spiritual guidance of His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg. With his blessing and with the personal blessing of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, this charitable action to support the renovation of the Ukrainian church was launched.
This little church needs considerable external and internal repair work, including replacement of the roof, installation of insulation, drainage against rising damp, installation of a heating system, enlargement of the little church, renovation of the little church hall and other rooms, etc.
Only with your generous support and contribution will this little Orthodox church be able to reopen its doors and thus once again be a spiritual haven for those in need. Our hope and trust is that you will be personally involved and want to support this noble project financially according to your own judgment and decision.
In his epistel to the Galatians Saint Paul encourages us, as long as we have the opportunity, to do good, to invest our lives by the power of God's Spirit in doing what is right (Galatians 6,10).
