After much deliberation, trial and error, falling again and not being able to get up, I decided to adjust my goal.

Every donation gives me hope to restart my life, which has now come to a complete standstill. To regain perspective in this hopeless situation that is only getting worse.

Studying (at home), the Chiro (I am a scout leader together with my husband Matthias), cooking, shopping: it's all no longer possible!

I cannot do anything without suffering for days, even weeks. It is hardly possible to recover because far too little oxygen is exchanged in my brain and in all my muscles, which makes me weaker every day.

That is the disease Long Covid (Post Covid). It is a form of slow suffocation or asphyxiation.

In Belgium, having Long Covid (Post Covid) is a bottomless pit. There is no perspective anymore. In addition, my health is deteriorating faster than I ever thought/hoped/expected.

I have tried everything, without any improvement. On the contrary!

Physiotherapy (which everyone is told to do but is counterproductive), regular healthcare ('From pillar to post' because most doctors have no information about the disease), alternative medicine (from acupuncture to molecular therapy), sea air, sunlight, all kinds of diets, rest, especially a lot of rest.

Articles have appeared in the newspapers several times about my situation and the lack of research surrounding Long Covid in Belgium. No single Belgium insurance covers Long Covid therapy in Belgium nor abroad.

That is why many people move to America and now also the Netherlands because there is a lot of expertise and a lot of research underway.

The only hope left for me is treatment in America or Holland with a very high chance of success. This is a traject of 10 weeks everyday therapy with hyperbaric oxygen and guidance by doctors, specially monitored during the sessions and also after the total therapie.

Cost? 75,000 euros including travel and accommodation in the USA - or - 15.000 euros in the Netherlands including extra spendings.

Every donation gives me hope to restart my life, which has now come to a complete standstill. To regain perspective in this hopeless situation that is only getting worse.

Ik kan niets meer doen zonder dagen of weken af te zien. Dat is de ziekte Long Covid. Het is een vorm van langzaam stikken.

Elke donatie geeft me hoop om mijn leven, dat nu volledig stilstaat, weer op te pakken. Om weer perspectief te krijgen in deze uitzichtloze situatie, die alleen maar verergert.

Studeren (afstandsonderwijs), de chiro (Ik ben leidster samen met mijn man Matthias), koken, boodschappen: het gaat allemaal niet meer!

Ik kan niets meer doen zonder dagen of weken af te zien. Recupereren lukt nauwelijks omdat er veel te weinig zuurstof uitgewisseld wordt in mijn hersenen en in de cellen van al mijn spieren, waardoor ik elke dag verder verzwak.

Dat is de ziekte Long Covid (Post Covid). Het is een vorm van langzaam stikken.

Na veel wikken en wegen, vallen en opstaan, opnieuw vallen en niet meer kunnen opstaan, heb ik besloten mijn doel aan te passen.

In België is het hebben van Long Covid een bodemloze put. Er is geen perspectief. Daarnaast gaat mijn gezondheid er sneller dan ooit gedacht/gehoopt/verwacht op achteruit.

Ik heb alles geprobeerd, zonder enige verbetering. Integendeel!

Fysiotherapie (wat iedereen roept te doen maar juist averechts werkt), reguliere gezondheidszorg ('Van het kastje naar de muur' omdat de meeste dokters geen informatie hebben over de ziekte), alternatieve geneeswijzen (van acupunctuur tot moleculaire therapie), zeelucht, zonlicht, allerlei diëten, rust, vooral veel rust.

In de kranten verschenen al meermaals artikelen over mijn situatie en het gebrek aan onderzoek rondom Long Covid in België.

Geen enkele Belgische verzekering dekt Long Covid-therapie in België of in het buitenland.

Vandaar dat veel mensen uitwijken naar Amerika en nu ook Nederland, omdat daar veel expertise is en veel onderzoek loopt.

De enige hoop die mij nog rest is een behandeling in een zuurstoftank met een zeer hoge slaagkans.

Dat is een 10 weken durende therapie met hyperbare zuurstof en begeleiding door artsen, speciaal gemonitord voor tijdens en na het traject.

Kostenplaatje? 75.000 euro voor Amerika inclusief reis en verblijf - of - 15.000 euro inclusief bijkomende kosten voor de therapie in Nederland!
