Save elephants

Save elephants

Because human activities pose a threat to elephants, we hope you can support our action to save elephants

ame changer showcases himself in covid-19, trying to stop using Thai elephants for hiking - need emergency assistance

-Chiang Mai, Thailand - save the elephant Foundation (SEF) and elephant nature park (ENP), led by saengduean Lek chailert (Lek), are racing against time to not only feed hungry elephants, but also - hopefully - get them out of hiking and elephant camps forever!

In addition, ENP has been temporarily closed due to the restriction of travel and tourism by coronavirus. Lek chailert and her team still need to take care of more than 3000 animals, which is very expensive.

Three key considerations for the future of animal tourism Freedom:

As tourism funds dried up, covid-19 broke the fence and helped strengthen Lek's dialogue with local elephant camp owners and trainers, so although progress has been made, it is still very expensive to take care of these animals every day

There is reason to hope that SEF is currently working with the longest running elephant riding and performance camp in Thailand, which agreed to remove the saddles of all 78 elephants and move to the reserve model with the support of SEF! The work has made progress!

In order to plan for a sustainable future, SEF is working with the Thai government to release land so that indigenous tribes can start growing their own crops, feed themselves and elephants, and earn income from agricultural products rather than animal tourism. Another source of income will be the booming coffee production industry. Change forever!

Call for action: SEF needs public help before the sustainable transition is completed.

Feed an elephant and eat 10% of its weight every day. The cost is $30 per day = $900 per month

At any given time, the save the elephant foundation is feeding about 1700 elephants - an ongoing and urgent need.

No amount is too large or too small. Your donation is 100% tax-free.

Thank you for your generosity and support
