‎For over two years now, I've been living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a severe neurological condition that has taken away my health, my independence, my ability to work, and the life I once had.

‎After exhausting the treatment options available to me, I was assessed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists from the Brain & Mind Centre and Maudsley Hospital in London-UK. My diagnosis was confirmed, and a personalized treatment plan is currently being finalized.

‎For the first time in over two years, I have a specialist multidisciplinary team that understands my condition and is now finalising the treatment plan that offers me the best chance of recovery. The main obstacle is that this specialist treatment must be paid for in advance, and the cost is far beyond what my family and I can afford. That is why I am asking for your support.

‎My Story

‎Until 2024, I was living an independent, healthy life and building my career in Airline Revenue Management. Then everything changed. Out of nowhere, I developed progressively worsening neurological symptoms that no one could explain. Despite numerous medical consultations, investigations, and treatments, I was repeatedly left without answers. No one could tell me what was happening, why it was happening, or how to stop it. Since July 2025, I have been unable to work. Every day is spent trying to cope with my condition, coordinate my medical care, and do everything possible to access the specialist treatment that offers me the best chance of recovery.

‎Why This Treatment?

‎Specialist multidisciplinary treatment for Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is still a relatively new and rapidly evolving field. Although awareness and clinical understanding have advanced significantly over the past decade, specialist expertise and dedicated multidisciplinary treatment programmes remain limited, with only a small number of centres internationally offering this level of comprehensive FND care. The Brain & Mind Centre in London and its network of specialist consultants working across leading London hospitals, including The Wellington, Maudsley and King's College, represent the closest highly specialised multidisciplinary FND service to my home country, Greece. Based on the team's assessment, my treatment is expected to require prolonged specialist multidisciplinary care because of the complexity, duration, and progression of my condition.

‎Why I Need Your Help

‎While my treatment plan is being finalised by Dr. Okai, Professor Edwards and Dr. Gee, I must prepare for the possibility of an extended inpatient 12-week treatment programme, currently estimated at approximately £239,000 (excluding medications and any additional diagnostic investigations), which is expected to be paid in full before treatment can begin. My fundraising goal is set at £250,000 to account for payment processing fees, ensuring that the net amount raised fully covers the treatment costs. This figure represents the current upper estimate for the specialist treatment programme itself. Should my final treatment plan differ in duration or combine inpatient, outpatient or hybrid care, I will update this page accordingly, together with any significant updates to my treatment plan and supporting medical documentation. Your support will help ensure that I can begin treatment without delay once the treatment plan is confirmed.

‎My family and I remain fully committed to every aspect of my treatment. We have already covered the costs of medical consultations, investigations, medications and ongoing care, and we will continue to fund the many expenses that will arise before, during and after my core treatment in London. This includes medications, additional medical investigations if required, ongoing follow-up care, remote clinical supervision, and the continued support of my treating medical team in Greece. The only cost that is beyond our financial means is the specialist treatment in London itself. This campaign exists solely to help bridge that gap and make this treatment possible.
