Hello, since the war in Ukraine I have been hosting a refugee and her little 3 year old child. Everything went well, she immediately started Dutch lessons, her baby went to kindergarten immediately 2 weeks after arrival. She felt good in Belgium. Until the city intervened, she finished the required Dutch 1.1 course before the vacations and then had to wait until September 1th to be able to start Dutch 1.2 and then do 2.1 in combination with a nursing course. All this will take another 6 months. However, the city has decided that this is "not necessary" for them because she completed the only mandatory course 1.1. Because of this they have stopped her equivalent living wage "she should just go work as a cleaning lady and when she is financially stronger in a few years she should just go study" I don't think this is acceptable, now we have 2 options. Either bridge the next 6 months financially, or hire a lawyer which also costs a huge amount of money.... I myself am now responsible for all costs and even though I work, just taking care of 3 people + rent and such weighs enormously financially.
