Basic needs (food, water & shelter) for the family of our friend Bashir

English version below

Hallo

Hartelijk dank!

Hello,

My name is Joke.

Whenever I see a fundraising campaign, I wonder whether the donated money actually reaches the people who need it. Through this platform, I would like to show you why I’m organising this support campaign and what your donation will be used for.

My husband and I have been friends with Bashir (pictured) - a Palestinian from the Gaza strip - for two years now.

Since October 7th, Bashir is no longer the same person. The constant fear of what is happening to his people and his family is exhausting. That’s why I would like to support Bashir, but also his parents and siblings, through this action. I hope you feel the same way.

Until recently, Bashir’s family lived in the refugee camp in Rafah. But a few days before the Israeli army invaded Rafah, they returned to their home. Or rather... what was left of their home. Israeli soldiers occupied their house for a period of time and used it as a lookout post. Before leaving, they threw away a lot of the family’s possessions or destroyed them deliberately. Not a single room is habitable. Right now, the family sleeps and lives on the ground floor, together with other neighbours who no longer have shelter.

But there is nothing left: no functional toilet, no shower, the cooking stove was smashed, windows and doors are destroyed, ... There are holes in the wall, leading to problems with rats and mice. Only the basic structure of the house is left, but as you can see, even this will have to be largely rebuilt.

The priority for this family, after food of course, is building a well to guarantee their (potable) water supply and making the ground floor wind- and waterproof again.

Would you also like to support the Alqarra family?

A donation is possible starting from €5.

If you have any further questions or remarks, please do not hesitate to send me a message by using the contact button on the top right.

Thank you for your kindness.
