Help me fund my Master's research in Curaçao and contribute to restoring and protecting our beautiful coral reefs!

Ever since I was little, I have dreamed of exploring the underwater world and dedicating my life to protecting our oceans. I have always known that I wanted to study marine biology, travel the world, and contribute to conservation projects that make a real difference for marine life.

Over the years, I have worked hard to make that dream a reality. I have been fortunate enough to finance my studies through my own work, and I am now pursuing a Master's degree in Marine Biology.

Earlier this year, I was offered an incredible opportunity: to carry out my Master's research project on coral reef recovery in Curaçao. It is exactly the kind of project I have always hoped to be part of.

Coral reefs are among the most extraordinary and important ecosystems in our oceans, yet they are increasingly threatened by climate change, disease, and human activities. As part of my research, I will be investigating how we can improve coral restoration techniques by looking at the genetics of corals and their symbionts (the microscopic organisms, such as algae, that live in close association with them). By understanding what makes certain corals more resilient and better able to survive, we can hopefully contribute to developing more effective ways to restore and protect these fragile ecosystems.

I will be spending approximately 6–7 months in Curaçao carrying out this research. It is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on research experience, contribute to marine conservation, and take an important step towards the career I have always dreamed of.

Of course, I couldn't say no to an opportunity like this. But there is one challenge: after financing my studies myself, I simply don't have enough left to cover the costs of travelling and living in Curaçao during my research period.

That is why I am asking for your help.

I want to be honest: asking for financial support is not something I find easy. In fact, starting this fundraiser is genuinely my last resort. I have always wanted to be able to provide for my own education and opportunities, and I would never ask for money if I had another realistic way of making this work.

I have also made sure to keep the fundraising goal as realistic and modest as possible. The requested amount covers only the essentials I need to carry out my project in Curaçao for those 6–7 months:

1. Return flight ticket (1200 euros)

2. Accommodation for the duration of my research (2500 euros)

3. Food and groceries (700 euros)

4. Diving, health, and travel insurance (300 euros)

That's it. No luxuries, no extras, and nothing beyond what I genuinely need. I would never ask for more than is necessary to make this opportunity possible.

Every contribution, no matter how small, would bring me one step closer to making this dream a reality. You would not only be helping me pursue my academic and professional ambitions, but also supporting research that contributes to the recovery and protection of our precious marine ecosystems.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would already mean so much to me.
