Nextdoor
What is Nextdoor?
Nextdoor is a private social network for you and your neighbors. It is the place where community members come together to share important information, offer help, or ask for recommendations. This makes it an ideal channel for crowdfunding: people love to help someone who literally lives "around the corner."
Go to the public page of your crowdfunding campaign and copy the full URL from your browser's address bar.
✅ Step 2: Log in to Nextdoor
Go to Nextdoor.nl (or your local version) and log in to your account. Make sure you are signed in to the neighborhood where you want to share the campaign.
✅ Step 3: Create a new post
At the top of your newsfeed, click on the field "Post a message, photo, or video to the neighborhood". Select the "Message" option.
✅ Step 4: Write a personal message
Briefly explain why you started this campaign and what the impact is for the neighborhood or the person involved. A personal tone works best on Nextdoor.
✅ Step 5: Paste the link
Paste the URL you copied in step 1 into the message. Nextdoor will automatically load a preview of your campaign, including the image.
✅ Step 6: Post
Check your text and click "Post". Your campaign is now visible to all your neighbors!
✅ Keep it pure and transparent: Donors in the neighborhood appreciate honesty about where the money goes.
✅ Avoid irritation: Choosing a platform with a transparent cost model prevents neighbors from being surprised at 'checkout' by unexpected requests for extra contributions or tips to the platform itself.
✅ Personal experience: A giving experience should remain positive; an aggressive request for a tip to an external company can overshadow your neighbor's positive experience.
✅ Trust: Neighbors who discover that part of their extra contribution does not go to your cause but to the platform can perceive this as misleading.
