As a volunteer, I will play an essential role in Laos building eco-friendly educational infrastructures, supporting English education, and assisting in environmental and wildlife conservation projects.

I’ll be doing this with the organisation GIVE Volunteers. 
GIVE is a volunteer organization that promotes sustainable development in local communities around the world. Their mission is to inspire growth, empower global citizens, and ignite sustainable change worldwide. 
 

GIVE operates under the ideology that true sustainable growth is achieved through the development of social and human capital. By investing in human potential, the realm of achievement is endless and the development process is advanced when paired with the appropriate infrastructure. It is important that as an organization, they understand that they do not have all the answers: community development takes root on the local level through local leadership and knowledge. They aim to assist the cultivation of empowering locals by funding and constructing valuable infrastructure, offering educational support, supporting environmental initiatives, and encouraging local leadership.

Their volunteer programs foster an environment that breaks down cultural barriers. This is an invaluable experience that cultivates individual growth for both our volunteers and host-community members. The cosmopolitan ideals received throughout this trip can be seen as one of the most influential forms of human progression, and these principles are imported home with their volunteers, enriching the society and our world. 

Not only will I aid in empowering local communities, but I will also return home as more resourceful, educated, and open-minded members of the global community.
