My name is Fernanda, and I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I’m here because I’m in desperate need of help looking after my cats. In fact, it’s not just my own cats – cats from the neighbourhood often turn up here to eat their food. And then there are the possums that eat the cats’ food, even when there’s fruit available; they’ve got used to it and adapted to whatever they can find to eat in the city. I put out bananas when it’s not mango season – they love them – but they like the cat food too, so it runs out faster. My finances are tight; everything has gone up in price and I’ve had less work over the last few months. I’m already getting into debt, so I’m asking for help and would be very grateful to anyone who can assist me.
Some of the cats are elderly and have health issues; I have to buy medication. Susi has had sporotrichosis before, but she’s quite feisty, so when she scratches herself, it opens the door for the fungus to strike again. I’m always keeping an eye on her and giving her the medicine when necessary. At the moment she has a sore on her nose, so I’ve started giving her the medicine again, but I only have enough for less than a week; I need to buy more, as I have to give it to her for at least two months. Feijão, the black cat with the scar on his nose, has also had sporotrichosis, but fortunately it hasn’t come back.
Xiquinha, the black-and-white cat, who has developed irritable bowel syndrome as she’s got older, nearly died last month; she wouldn’t eat or drink water, and nothing would stay down. And she’s usually such a big eater, so for her to stop eating, she must have been really ill. I don’t know if it was a virus or something she ate in the garden, but with medication, homemade rehydration solution and soft food, she managed to recover – thanks also to the protection of St Francis of Assisi – and is back to being a big eater, though it was an extra expense that month, putting even more strain on my finances.
So, my cats and I would be very, very, very grateful to anyone who can contribute and help us.

Peço ajuda para cuidar da saúde e da alimentação dos meus gatos e dos gatos e gambás visitantes.

Sou Fernanda, moro no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Venho aqui porque estou precisando muito, com urgência, de uma ajuda para cuidar de meus gatos. Aliás, não só dos meus, aqui em casa aparecem gatos da vizinhança para comer ração. E também tem as gambás que comem a ração dos gatos, mesmo quando tem frutas, já acostumaram, se adaptaram ao que encontram para comer na área urbana. Eu coloco banana, quando não está na época das mangas, que elas adoram, mas elas gostam da ração também, então, a ração acaba mais rápido. Minhas finanças estão apertadas, tudo ficou mais caro e eu tive menos trabalhos nos últimos meses, já estou fazendo dívidas, então, peço e agradeço muito a quem puder me ajudar.
Algumas gatas são idosas, tem alguns problemas de saúde, tenho que comprar remédios, Susi já teve esporotricose, mas é briguenta, então, quando se arranha, abre caminho para o fungo atacar de novo, estou sempre observando e dando o remédio quando necessário, no momento está com um machucado no nariz, voltei a dar o rémedio, mas só tenho para menos de uma semana, tenho que comprar mais, tenho que dar por 2 meses, pelo menos. Feijão, o gato preto com cicatriz no nariz, também já teve esporotricose, mas, felizmente, não voltou a ter.
Xiquinha, a gata preta e branca, que já desenvolveu um problema de intestino irritável com a idade, quase morreu mês passado, não queria comer, nem beber água, não ficava nada no estômago. E ela é muito comilona, então, para parar de comer, só estando muito doente mesmo. Não sei se foi virose ou algo que ela comeu no quintal, mas dando remédios, soro caseiro e comida em pasta, ela conseguiu se recuperar, graças também a proteção de São Francisco de Assis, e voltou a ser comilona, mas foi um gasto extra no mês, apertando mais minhas finanças.
Então, eu e meus gatos agrademos muito, muito, muito, a quem puder colaborar e nos ajudar.
