Little Mark is a tiny Yorkshire Terrier of just 1.5 kg, about 5 years old, and one of the sweetest, gentlest rescue dogs you could imagine.

He traveled from China fully prepared and with all his paperwork, including a microchip that was scanned and working perfectly before departure. There are videos of proof. Unfortunately, upon arrival at Amsterdam Schiphol, his microchip suddenly could not be read.

Whether the chip broke, shifted, fell out, or was rejected by his body (something that can happen and is completely beyond anyone’s control) the consequences were devastating.

Because his identity could not be confirmed at the airport, Mark was immediately taken into official quarantine, where he must remain for four full months (from December 6 until April 6) under Dutch regulations.

During this time, he is required to:

Receive a new microchip

An EU passport

Be revaccinated

Undergo a rabies titer test

Receive deworming and parasite treatments

Attend multiple mandatory veterinary checks

Stay in quarantine until fully cleared by authorities

Mark is alone, confused, and separated from the people who were meant to finally give him safety after rescue. For such a small dog, this long isolation is emotionally very heavy — and financially, the costs are overwhelming.

💸 Expected costs include (approximate):

Quarantine fee: €27,95 per day (≈ €3,600 total)

Rabies titer test: ± €170

Vaccinations: ± €100

Deworming & treatments: ± €45

Vet visits: €70 per visit + €50 per mandatory check

Administration fees: €36,30

Transport to and from the quarantine facility: €500–€750

➡️ Total costs will reach several thousands of euros.

These are expenses that were never anticipated and are impossible to carry alone. Especially since this situation was caused by a technical failure, not neglect.

Mark did everything right.
He is healthy, gentle, innocent, and undeserving of this ordeal.

All funds raised will go directly toward his mandatory quarantine, veterinary care, transport, and administrative costs, so that in April he can finally leave quarantine and begin the life he was promised.
