Lieve allemaal,

De tickets zijn geboekt (mama gaat mee!), het voorprogramma in Nederland is begonnen en de data in Australië zijn officieel vastgezet! Half april begin ik met mijn Neurophysics Therapie.

Een bericht van mijzelf, velen heb ik inmiddels gelukkig ‘gesproken’ en kunnen bedanken via whatsapp of andere sociale media. Jullie kunnen er misschien wel wat bij voorstellen, maar sinds de actie is mijn inbox redelijk ontploft. Dus voor iedereen die ik toch niet heb geantwoord: weet dat ik alle lieve berichtjes wél heb gelezen en er kracht uit haal. En hier nog even expliciet: DANKJULLIEWEL voor al jullie financiële steun voor deze reis. Het bedrag dat is opgehaald geeft mij de draagkracht, zodat ik me alleen nog maar hoef te focussen op alles uit de therapie halen. En daarmee is er sinds Oudjaar een enorme last van mijn schouders gevallen. 

Door jullie donaties ben ik gezegend om te gaan trainen bij Neurophysics. Ik heb enorm veel vertrouwen in de kennis en kunde van de oprichters Ken en Nickie Ware. Hun specialisatie op het gebied van het menselijk lichaam en het zenuwstelsel is indrukwekkend én ik heb diep respect voor de toewijding die zij hebben aan elke individuele casus in hun kliniek.

Het is ook spannend om te gaan. Want dat het me verbetering en herstel gaat brengen weet ik zeker, maar waar we uit gaan komen weet natuurlijk niemand exact. Hoe groot zal de stap straks zijn? Of hoeveel kleine stapjes zullen het worden?

Wat ik van anderen die gegaan zijn heb gehoord: het wordt hard werken. Er is me geen quick fix beloofd (nou geloof ik daar sowieso zelf niet zo in ;)). Ik ga er 100% voor én heb vertrouwen dat alles wat er gebeurt zal leiden tot de best mogelijke uitkomst. Stap voor stap. 

Ik zal tot minstens een jaar na Australië ook dagelijks trainen om vooruitgang te blijven boeken. Maar ik gun mezelf ook, voor zover ik dat bewust met mezelf kan afspreken (je weet wel, iets met dat stemmetje dat overal doorheen fluistert), om de uitkomst en alle verwachtingen voor nu even zoveel mogelijk los te laten. En sinds ik dat mezelf heb toegestaan, heb ik mezelf al meerdere malen betrapt op het feit dat ik zin begin te krijgen om te gaan (al ben ik nog wel een beetje bang voor de de extra pijn en het ongemak tijdens de reis zelf). Het actief bezig zijn met mijn lichaam en herstel, daar heb ik zin in en kijk ik naar uit.

Dank voor iedereen die meeleeft, met mij, mijn ouders, mijn familie of mijn vrienden. Jullie vormen een liefdevol web om ons heen.

Dear all,

The flights have been booked (my mom is coming along!), the preliminary programme in the Netherlands has started and the dates in Australia have been officially confirmed! I will start my Neurophysics Therapy in mid-April. 

A message written by myself this time. Fortunately I have been able to thank many of you so far via WhatsApp or other social media. Its probably not hard to imagine, but since the Fundraise went online my inbox has exploded. So for anyone that I haven't answered yet: please know that I have read all the sweet messages ánd that I get strength from each one of them. And here again explicitly: THANK YOU for all your financial support for this trip. The amount raised gives me the support so that I only have to focus on getting the most out of the therapy. And with that, a huge burden has been lifted from my shoulders since New Year's Eve. 

Because of your donations, I am blessed to train at Neurophysics in little over a month from now. I have enormous confidence in the knowledge and skills of the founders Ken and Nickie Ware. Their specialization in the field of the human body and the nervous system is impressive and I have deep respect for the dedication they have to each individual case in their clinic. At times it all makes me a little nervous. Because I'm sure it will bring me improvement and recovery, but of course no one knows exactly where we will end up. How big will the step be? Or how many small steps will it take? 

What I have heard from others who have gone before me: it will be hard work. I haven't been promised a quick fix (I don't really believe in that anyway ;)). I will give it my 100% and I have confidence that everything that happens will lead to the best possible outcome and progress. Step by step.

I will keep training daily for at least a year after Australia to continue making progress. But I also allow myself, as far as I can consciously do so (you know, that little voice that whispers through everything), to completely let go of the outcome and all expectations for now. And since I've allowed myself to do that, I've caught myself several times that I am really looking forward to it: actively working on my body and recovery (although I am still a bit scared for the extra pain and discomfort during the flights itself). I'm looking forward to being there and i am excited to get started!

“Op de laatste dag van het jaar, bijna symbolisch, tikten we de volle €48.000 aan. Dat betekent voor Carmen een nieuw perspectief in 2024. We gaan het nieuwe jaar in met vernieuwde hoop en voor Carmen de financiën om de revalidatie te gaan starten. We zijn alle donateurs zó ontzettend dankbaar! Dankjulliewel.

De SteunActie zal voorlopig nog openblijven, ook al is het streefbedrag behaald. Dit heeft te maken met het feit dat Carmen na terugkomst uit Australië nog ten minste 1 jaar zelf in Nederland zal moeten blijven trainen/oefenen. Daar komen uiteraard ook nog kosten bij kijken.

Maar het allerbelangrijkste voor nu is; de behandeling in Australië zal april 2024 écht gaan plaatsvinden. Met dank aan jullie allemaal. Drie weken geleden durfden we niet te dromen dat het doelbedrag werkelijkheid zou worden, en nu gaan we proostend het jaar uit!

We verwachten voor eind februari weer een update te sturen omdat het voortraject dan voor Carmen in volle gang zal zijn."

"On the last day of the year, almost symbolically, we raised the full €48,000. This means a new perspective for Carmen in 2024. We enter the new year with renewed hope and for Carmen the finances to start her rehabilitation process. We are so very grateful to all donors! Thank you.

The fundraise will remain open for now, even though the target amount has been achieved. This has to do with the fact that Carmen will have to continue training/practicing in the Netherlands for at least 1 year after returning from Australia.

But the most important thing for now is: the treatment in Australia will actually take place in April 2024. Thanks to all of you. Three weeks ago, we did not dare to dream that the target amount would become reality, and now we are celebrating the year with a toast!

We expect to send another update before the end of February because the pre-trajectory for Carmen will then be in full swing."

Wat zijn we enorm geraakt door jullie massale steun! In iets meer dan twee weken zijn jullie een groep van 850+ mensen en hebben jullie samen al meer dan €43.000 gegeven, 90% van het doelbedrag. Wát een steun, het gevoel dat er zóveel mensen zijn die Carmen het beste gunnen is echt overweldigend.

Dus eigenlijk willen we maar één ding zeggen: DANKJEWEL.

Een berichtje van Carmen:
"Het liefst zou ik iedere donateur persoonlijk een knuffel willen komen geven, maar dat is niet mogelijk. 
Daarom wil ik hierbij zeggen: dankjulliewel voor alle giften, het meeleven, het delen van de actie in jullie netwerken en alle hartverwarmende lieve berichten. Dat het over mij gaat blijft onwerkelijk en maakt me ook verdrietig. Maar dankbaarheid en ontroering voor jullie steun overheersen."

Nu we zo richting het doelbedrag gaan, zijn we nóg hoopvoller dat we het echt gaan halen en dat Carmen daarmee de behandeling kan krijgen die hopelijk leidt tot herstel. We blijven ons hiervoor inzetten en houden je op de hoogte bij nieuws.
