Beste lieve allen,

Zo'n jaar geleden kreeg ik de diagnose borstkanker. De hemel viel op mijn hoofd.

Maar ik ging er tegen aan! En bleef toch deeltijds werken, met alle issues die daar bij kwamen kijken.

Mijn traject tot nu toe: 5 maanden chemo, borstamputatie, okseluitruiming, bestralingen, en heel wat complicaties onderweg….

Nog te gaan: minstens 2 operaties, waarvan 1 reconstructie, hormoontherapie, tumorremmers, baxters, enzovoort. 

Het is echt dolle pret :-)

Naast de zware fysieke en emotionele impact heeft deze ziekte ook enorme financiële gevolgen gehad.

Door de kanker heb ik een jaar inkomensverlies geleden en werden de kosten steeds hoger: medische uitgaven, behandelingen en bijkomende zorg en huishuodhulp. Ondanks alle inspanningen is mijn financiële reserve nu quasi volledig uitgeput.

Nu sta ik voor een volgende, belangrijke stap in mijn herstel: een borstreconstructie.
Deze ingreep is essentieel voor mijn lichamelijk en emotioneel welzijn, maar wordt niet terugbetaald. Ik kies nl. voor lipofilling omdat mijn lichaam enkel deze reconstructie aankan.

De totale kost bedraagt 12.500 euro – een bedrag dat ik onmogelijk alleen kan dragen.

Daarom vraag ik, met heel veel moeite (en wat schaamte) maar ook hoop, om jullie hulp.
Elke bijdrage, groot of klein, maakt een verschil. 

Ik ben oprecht dankbaar voor elke euro.

About a year ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It felt as if the sky fell on my head.

But I fought back! And I continued working part‑time, despite all the challenges that came with it.

My journey so far: 5 months of chemotherapy, a mastectomy, lymph node removal, radiation therapy, and quite a few complications along the way…

Still ahead: at least 2 more surgeries, including one reconstruction, hormone therapy, tumor inhibitors, IV treatments, and so on.

It’s been great fun :-)

Besides the heavy physical and emotional impact, this illness has also had enormous financial consequences.

Because of the cancer, I lost a year of income, and the costs kept rising: medical expenses, treatments, additional care, and household help. Despite all my efforts, my financial reserves are now almost completely depleted.

I am now facing the next important step in my recovery: a breast reconstruction. This procedure is essential for my physical and emotional well‑being, but it is not reimbursed. I am choosing lipofilling because it is the only reconstruction my body can handle.

The total cost is 12,500 euros — an amount I simply cannot cover on my own.

That is why I am asking, with great difficulty (and some embarrassment), but also with hope, for your help. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

I am sincerely grateful for every euro.
