Steun Palestijnse organisaties voor een rechtvaardige vrede in Palestina
Échte vrede begint met volledige erkenning van de rechten en het leed van de Palestijnen. Steun de boodschap en doneer!
Vrede is (helaas) niet genoeg
Terwijl de wereld toekijkt vindt er in Gaza een genocide plaats. Een onmiddellijk staakt-het-vuren is een belangrijke eerste stap om de huidige wandaden van Israël een halt toe te roepen. Maar voor een duurzame oplossing is er meer nodig. Want ook een terugkeer naar de status quo van vóór oktober 2023 is een terugkeer naar structureel geweld en apartheid. Al meer dan een halve eeuw begaat Israël stelselmatige schendingen van de Palestijnse onafhankelijkheid, weigert het land de Palestijnse bevolking gelijkwaardig te behandelen, en ontkent de staat het door de VN erkende recht op terugkeer voor alle verdreven Palestijnen. Daarmee is het beleid van Israël de voornaamste bedreiging voor echte vrede. En dan geldt ook dat, als het huidige escalerende geweld tegen de inwoners van Gaza gestopt kan worden, Israël verantwoording moet afleggen voor het vernietigen van 32,000 Palestijnse levens en het plegen van genocide. Want zonder gerechtigheid voor het Palestijnse volk kan duurzame vrede niet bestaan.
In ons land erkennen veel organisaties, politieke partijen en individuen het belang van rechtvaardigheid voor de Palestijnen echter niet. Daarom verspreiden we de bovenstaande poster. Met de spreuk Justice Now willen we solidariteit tonen met de Palestijnen, en publiek bewustzijn creëren over het feit dat rechtvaardigheid een belangrijke voorwaarde is voor duurzame vrede. Deze poster wil daarmee in dialoog treden met de Peace Now-poster die in Utrecht en omstreken aan populariteit wint. Onze poster is dus een aanvulling - en geen tegenreactie - op die boodschap.
Doe je mee?
De actie gaat verder dan het verspreiden van een leus. We willen namelijk een dringende oproep doen. Terwijl Europese overheden – waaronder de Nederlandse – uitingen van steun aan de Palestijnen tegenwerken en verbieden en Israël actief steunen, zetten Palestijnse maatschappelijke organisaties in Europa zich onverminderd in voor gerechtigheid. Maar hun strijd van onderop kost veel energie, tijd en geld. Om hun strijd bij te staan roepen we daarom op tot donatie, het zetten van politieke druk op de Nederlandse regering, en een boycot van Israëlische producten. Wat ons betreft gaat elke uiting van solidariteit namelijk gepaard met materiële steun. Doe je mee?

De donatie-actie
Misschien ben je op deze pagina terechtgekomen via de QR-code op de poster, of misschien ben je hier wel op digitale wijze aanbeland. Hoe dan ook: we willen je vragen om, indien je iets kan missen, een bijdrage te leveren aan Palestijnse organisaties die in Nederland actief zijn. Alle kleine beetjes helpen! Onafhankelijke Palestijnse maatschappelijke organisaties zijn, juist nu, van cruciaal belang. Deze organisaties bieden essentiële plekken van waaruit de maatschappelijke druk op politiek en bedrijven opgevoerd kan worden. Mede daarom worden ze dan ook door heel Europa aan banden gelegd. Door je donatie draag je bij aan het behoud van Palestijnse publieke ruimtes en organisaties in Nederland. De opbrengst wordt volledig en gelijkmatig verdeeld over de volgende doelen:
Plant een Olijfboom
Plant een Olijfboom ondersteunt sinds 2004 het verzet van Palestijnen tegen landconfiscatie door het aanplanten van gesponsorde olijfbomen. Op dagelijkse basis worden Palestijnse olijfboeren namelijk geïntimideerd, aangevallen, gedood en verdreven door Israëlische kolonisten. Daarnaast organiseert Plant een Olijfboom sinds 2021 'hulp waar nodig' via het Palestina Fonds. Ook zetten zij zich in voor bewustwording en voorlichting rondom de situatie van de Palestijnen, om zodoende rechtvaardige vrede met gelijkwaardigheid voor alle burgers, inclusief recht op terugkeer voor Palestijnse vluchtelingen, na te streven. Samidoun Nederland
Samidoun zet zich in voor de rechten van Palestijnse gevangenen. Israël houdt op grote schaal Palestijnen vast. Vele van hen zijn zonder aanklacht of proces vastgezet, en in Israëlische gevangenissen ondervinden deze Palestijnse gevangenen marteling en (seksueel) geweld. Terwijl Europese overheden zich weigeren uit te spreken tegen deze mensenrechtenschendingen, voeren ze sinds oktober 2023 wel de druk op Samidoun op. In Duitsland werd Samidoun al verboden.
Café Tabaria
Café Tabaria biedt ruimte om te leren over Palestina en de Palestijnse cultuur. In een poging om de ontmenselijking van Palestijnen tegen te gaan trekt dit Haagse pop-upcafé van locatie naar locatie. Zo faciliteert Tabaria ruimtes waar Palestijnen en supporters van de Palestijnse zaak samen kunnen rouwen, en verbinding zoeken met de Palestijnse cultuur. Café Tabaria host Palestijnse culturele evenementen, verspreidt bewustzijn rondom de geschiedenis en het heden van het Palestijnse volk, en ondersteunt belangrijke acties, zoals het werk van de Palestine Humanitarian Response en het #connectinggaza-project, waarbij er e-sims worden verzameld voor bewoners van Gaza zodat deze in contact kunnen blijven met de buitenwereld.
We zullen een klein deel van de opbrengst gebruiken voor de verdere verspreiding van de posters. Het is ook mogelijk dat er organisaties of doelen bij komen voor donatie. We blijven deze pagina updaten met de laatste info over de voortgang van de actie. Hierover willen we namelijk zo transparant mogelijk zijn. Heb je suggesties? Laat het ons weten!
Boycotten
De website van de Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions-beweging (BDS) biedt inzicht in de banden die overheden en bedrijven hebben met Israël. Ook biedt de website resources en informatie over de onderdrukking van de Palestijnen, en deelt de site handvatten om bij te dragen aan een boycot van Israël.
Informatie over de Israëlische onderdrukking van de Palestijnen
- Al-Haq is een Palestijnse mensenrechtenorganisatie die alle mensenrechtenschendingen op Palestijnse grond monitort. De organisatie deelt rapporten en informatie, en zet zich in voor de erkenning van Palestijnse mensenrechten.
- Decolonize Palestine bundelt een breed scala aan bronnen–van korte filmpjes tot academische boeken–om tot inzicht te komen rondom de Palestijnse zaak.
- Het Amnesty-rapport Israel’s Apartheid Against Palestinians uit 2022 biedt inzicht in het verregaande, discriminerende beleid van Israël jegens de Palestijnen.
- Teach Palestine biedt informatie en resources voor docenten die hun leerlingen willen onderwijzen over de situatie van de Palestijnen.
- Uitgeverij Verso Books biedt sinds Oktober 2023 gratis ebooks aan met informatie en inzichten over Palestina, geschreven door een breed scala aan auteurs en onderzoekers.
Posterontwerp: het symbool van de sleutel
Op de poster is een sleutel afgebeeld. De sleutel is uitgegroeid tot een belangrijk symbool in de wereldwijde Palestijnse gemeenschap. In 1948 verdreef Israël 700,000 Palestijnen om hun land te claimen—een gebeurtenis die later te boek kwam te staan als de Nakba, ofwel catastrofe. Na de zesdaagse oorlog van 1967 breidde Israël nogmaals haar grondgebied uit, en 300.000 Palestijnen moesten vluchten. Het aantal vluchtelingen nam sindsdien alleen maar toe. Vandaag de dag leven er 5,9 miljoen Palestijnen in ballingschap—bijna de helft van alle Palestijnen ter wereld. De VN erkent hun recht op terugkeer, en hun recht op hun voormalig bezit, maar Israël weigert hierin mee te gaan. In tegendeel: Israël breekt internationale wet na wet, en heeft haar onderdrukking van de Palestijnen inmiddels opgevoerd tot een genocide. Als herinnering aan het recht op terugkeer staat de sleutel voor standvastigheid en gerechtigheid voor het Palestijnse volk. Rechtvaardigheid is de sleutel tot vrede.

Real peace rests upon the full recognition of Palestinian rights and suffering. Support this message by donating!
Peace is not enough
As the world watches, a genocide is taking place in Gaza. An immediate ceasefire could provide an important first step in halting the crimes committed by Israel. A sustainable solution, however, requires much more than a ceasefire: a mere return to the pre-October 2023 situation is not a return to peace, but a return to structural violence and apartheid. For more than half a century, Israel has systematically violated Palestinian independence, and subjected Palestinians to unequal policies and discrimination. Israel steadfastly denies exiled Palestinians their right of return–even though UN rulings require the country to uphold this right. Israel’s long-standing discriminatory policies, in short, are a fundamental threat to peace. This also means that if a stop to the current attacks on Gaza were to be achieved, Israel should still be held responsible for taking 32,000 Palestinian lives and for the genocide it has been committing. There can be no sustainable peace without justice for the Palestinian people.
Many organizations, parties and individuals in the Netherlands have failed to support the rights of the Palestinian people. That is why we decided to spread the poster below. Its call for Justice Now is an articulation of solidarity with the Palestinians, and an attempt to express that justice is a vital precondition for peace. In making this point, the poster aims to engage in a dialogue with the Peace Now poster that is currently gaining traction in and around Utrecht. Our poster is therefore complementary - and not in opposition - to its message.

By spreading the poster, we hope to also spread an appeal. While European governments - including the Dutch government - criminalize and hinder expressions of justice for Palestine and actively support Israeli violence, Palestinian organizations have been vehemently defending justice. Their struggle, conducted in the face of increased censorship, takes time, energy, and resources. To support the struggle for justice and help facilitate spaces for resistance, we are therefore collecting donations. The QR-code on the poster leads to the donation page you’re currently on. Plant een Olijfboom
Since 2004, Plant een Olijfboom (‘Plant an Olive Tree’) supports Palestinian resistance against land confiscation by planting sponsored olive trees. On a daily basis, Palestinian olive farmers are intimidated, attacked, killed and expelled from their own farms by Israeli colonists. With their Palestina Fonds ('Palestine Fund'), Plant een Olijfboom directly support these farmers whenever necessary. Samidoun Nederland
Samidoun is an international Palestinian prisoner support organization. It aims to protect and uphold the rights of Palestinian political prisoners. On a tremendous scale, Israel imprisons innocent Palestinians–often without an official charge or trial. In Israeli prisons, many of these prisoners face torture and (sexual) violence. European governments have failed to denounce these grave violations of human rights. Instead, they have increasingly targeted and curtailed Samidoun since October 2023. Germany has already banned the German branch of the organization.
Café Tabaria
Café Tabaria facilitates a space to learn about Palestine and its culture. In an active attempt to resist the dehumanization of Palestinians, the café, which is based in The Hague, hosts events and temporary cafe spaces at a variety of locations. Doing so, Tabaria opens up room to grieve and embrace Palestinian culture together. It allows Palestinians to reconnect with their culture, and helps others to get to know it. Café Tabaria organizes Palestinian cultural events, spreads awareness regarding the history and present of Palestinians, and hosts and supports valuable Palestinian organizations and networks (such as Palestine Humanitarian Response and the #connectinggaza e-sim project, which helps the people of Gaza remain in contact with the outside world).

The Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions-movement (BDS) reports which companies and governments support, and collaborate with, Israel. Their website offers resources and information about Israel’s oppression of Palestine, as well as ideas and guidelines for those interested in supporting a boycott of Israel.
Information on Israel’s systematic oppression of the Palestinians
- Al-Haq is a Palestinian human rights organization based in the West Bank. It monitors human rights violations occurring in Palestinian regions, and publishes reports on these violations. It has been an important legal voice in the struggle for Palestinian justice.
- Decolonize Palestine offers a wide range of sources–ranging from accessible videos to academic books–to inform people on the Palestinian cause.
- Amnesty International’s 2022 report Israel’s Apartheid Against Palestinians offers insight into the far-reaching, structural human rights violations Israel perpetrates.
- Teach Palestine offers information and resources for teachers.
- Since October 2023, publisher Verso Books offers free ebooks, written by a broad range of authors and researchers, to provide information and insights regarding Palestine.
The key symbol
The poster depicts a key, an important symbol in the global Palestinian community. In 1948, Israel drove 700,000 Palestinians from their homes to claim their land–an event now known as the Nakba, or catastrophe. After the 1967 six-days war, Israel again expanded its territories, exiling another 300,000 Palestinians. In subsequent years, the number of Palestinian refugees increased. Today, 5,9 million Palestinians live in exile–almost half of all Palestinian people. The UN recognizes their right of return and their right to reclaim their former property, but Israel refuses to do so. On the contrary: Israel has only ramped up its systematic oppression, which has now escalated into a genocide. As a reminder of the right of return, the key symbolizes Palestinian resilience and the struggle for justice.
