A direct message to you:
Subject: Our family needs help to evacuate Gaza. Please read.
Hello,
My name is Haneen Rasmi. I'm a final-year computer engineering student, and I'm writing to you because my family is trapped in Gaza with no way out.
I'll be direct: we need $39,000 to evacuate six of us to Egypt. That's $6,500 per person, the cost the Egyptian border charges. It's not a choice, it's the only option we have left.
Here's our situation:
My father, Rasmi, lost his home and his job. He's living in a tent now and has lost over 20 kilograms from stress and lack of food. My mother, Amal, has chronic high blood pressure and is still trying to work despite losing 15 kilograms herself. She's pushing through, but her health is getting worse.
My older brother, Dr. Abdullah Awwad (in photos), is a volunteer doctor working in impossible conditions with almost no medical supplies. He's saving lives, but he can't save his own family from this.
My other brother Shihada is an IT engineer. My youngest brother Waseem is still in high school. He shouldn't be living through this.
We're also supporting extended family members. Many of them children, who depend on us. We're all crammed into shelters with no clean water, barely any food, and no medical care.
What we're asking for:
We need funds to evacuate and survive. Beyond the $39,000 for crossing the border, we need money for food, medicine, and temporary housing once we get to Egypt. We also need to continue our education, Waseem needs to finish school, and I need to complete my degree.
Why I'm reaching out to you:
I'm not asking for pity. I'm asking for a chance. A chance for my family to survive, to rebuild, and to keep going. My father worked his whole life to provide for us. My mother is fighting every day despite her illness. My brother is saving strangers while his own family is starving.
If you can donate, even a small amount, it makes a difference. If you can share this with your network, that helps too. If you have questions or need verification, I'm happy to provide whatever you need.
With gratitude, Haneen Rasmi
If you have any questions or want to discuss how to help, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm available and will respond as quickly as I can.

The Breakdown
I'm organizing this campaign for the Rasmi family: six people who need to get out of Gaza alive. I'll explain the numbers and where the money goes.
Core evacuation cost: Egypt charges $6,500 per person to cross the border. That's not negotiable, that's the reality.
- 6 people × $6,500 = $39,000
Immediate survival needs: They're living in a tent. Father Rasmi lost his job and home, down 20kg from stress and hunger. Mother Amal has high blood pressure, still working despite losing 15kg herself. They need food, clean water, and medicine just to make it through the weeks ahead while we work on evacuation logistics.
- Estimate: $3,000 for food, water, basic medical supplies
Post-evacuation support: Once they're across, they'll need temporary housing, registration fees, basic setup costs in Egypt. The younger siblings, Haneen (final year computer engineering student) and Waseem (high school), need to continue their education. That costs money too.
- Estimate: $3,000 for immediate resettlement and education continuity
Total target: $45,000
Who They Are
- Rasmi — Father, former provider, now displaced and malnourished
- Amal — Mother, chronic hypertension, still working under impossible conditions
- Dr. Abdullah Awwad — Eldest son, volunteer doctor saving lives with no resources
- Shihada — IT engineer
- Haneen — Computer engineering student (final year)
- Waseem — High school student
They're also supporting extended family members, including many children, all crammed into shelters.
Why I'm Doing This
I'm anti-war. I don't care which flag you wave, civilians shouldn't be starving in tents while their kids watch everything collapse. This family has skilled people (a doctor, engineers, students) who deserve a shot at rebuilding their lives.
Child safety is non-negotiable for me. Waseem and the younger extended family members are living in conditions no kid should ever see.

What Happens Next
- Immediate: Funds go toward survival essentials (food, medicine)
- Evacuation: As we hit milestones, we coordinate with border contacts to move the family across
- Resettlement: Once in Egypt, we help them stabilize and get the kids back to school
- Updates: I'll report back with receipts, photos, and confirmation of safe passage
How to Help
Donate: even $20 helps. I'll take every dollar seriously.
Share: send this to your network. The more eyes, the faster we hit the target.
Ask questions: if something's unclear, ask me directly. I'll answer.
This isn't about me. This is about getting six people out of a warzone and giving them a chance to rebuild. If you've got the means, step up. If you don't, share it with someone who does.
Thank you,
Rocco Russo (xdemocle)
