I am Amir zaza, a director and screenwriter. Along with a group of filmmakers, I’m working on a short film titled 'Close Your Eyes!' The film tells the story of the 6 year old Palestinian girl Hind, who was tragically killed along with her relatives and the ambulance team that rushed to rescue them. Unfortunately, this is a true story and our script will be based on it.

I firmly believe that true empathy stems from understanding. Without comprehending someone's story, you cannot genuinely empathize with them. This is where storytelling becomes crucial. It serves as a bridge, allowing us to see others as fellow humans with families, friends, dreams, and struggles, just like us.  We've witnessed how mainstream media strips Palestinians of their humanity in their news coverage, rendering them dehumanized. The human side of the story, along with its details, is often omitted. The news is carefully crafted with selected words. And the perpetrator is always unknown.

We want to tell the story from Hind's perspective, inviting people to sit in her seat, to hear and see what she saw, and to experience the terror she felt. We want them to witness the last moments before her death. The story of Hind not only represents her, but also the thousands of victims whose stories have yet to be told. The war will eventually come to an end, but it's crucial that the stories of the victims endure in our collective memory. This film is part of the Documentation Initiative from Iejaz. Prior to this project, we've created three short films, which you can find on our Instagram page. This particular film will be slightly longer, approximately 10 minutes.

In order to make this short film, we need your support. The entire team will work on a voluntary basis, but there are basic costs without which we cannot do anything. Such as the costs of filming equipment, lighting, studio, set design, the destroyed car, and costumes. With your support alone, the production of "Close Your Eyes" will be possible.
